I almost broke a hip!

It was confirmed for me this past Friday that I am getting old! And to all of those who think roller skating is like riding a bike, (once you learn how you never forget) let me assure you that is not the case. Friday was Michael's spring field trip. They were going to Spinning Wheels to go roller skating. And once being a regular skater there I thought oh how funny Danny I'll do this field trip with him. So after a talk with Dad Michael agreed to let me go instead of Danny this time. By the way Mr. Crow was still there and looks the same! So we go in get our skates, Michael had never been before, so I help him get his skates on and he stands up and immedately starts to roll and fall all over. So I get him sitting down while I put my skates on, oh yeah I thought I can do this. Wrong! I stand up and almost fell flat on my butt! So Michael is in a big hurry to learn how to do this and get on the floor. So here I am trying to not break my hip and trying to hold him up, and these little kids were rolling by like nothing. I couldn't even do the hokey pokey! So after a few laps hanging on the wall and a couple of falls Michael got the hang of it, me not yet! I never fell but man oh mighty I was sure I was going to break a hip! And I hurt the next day. I am just glad no one was there to get a picture of it. And now to top it all off Michael wants to go again, so does Miranda and he wants to have his birthday there! I guess I will have to go a couple of times by myself to get the hang of it again. But I have to admit it was great being there with just Michael. He is at an age where it is not so cool to hang out with mom. I got the hint when he opted to ride the bus back to school and finish the day instead of going home early with me. I was even going to take him for ice cream. I was sad!

When they would rather go back to school than go home early; your days are numbered. I feel your pain, I get a hi-five @ school instead of a hug or kiss.
